Salma Hayek made her Hollywood debut in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. Her Oscar-nominated performance in Frida was the next major step. Hayek was also engaged in work on TV, notably serving as executive producer of the hit show Ugly Betty. Salma Hayek Jimenez is the daughter of Spanish parents, as well as a Lebanese dad. She was born on September 2nd of 1966 in Coatzacoalcos Veracruz Mexico. Hayek was brought up in an affluent Catholic family. When she was 12 she was enrolled in the convent of Louisiana.
